AquaSport® WOOD FLOOR SANDING SEAL
WOOD FLOOR SANDING SEAL

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Spartan’s AquaSport™ Wood Floor Sanding Seal is a water-based wood floor sealer. AquaSport Wood Floor Sanding Seal provides a base coat for AquaSport Wood Floor Finish and AquaSport 2-Part Wood Floor Finish.

PROVIDES SURFACE BUILD:
Spartan’s AquaSport Wood Floor Sanding Seal provides a build layer to ensure proper adhesion of waterborne finishes. This prevents the finish from penetrating into the wood surface, which minimizes grain raise, tannin bleed and the threat of side bonding.

MEETS *OTC AND CALIFORNIA VOC (VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS) EMISSION LEVELS:
The extremely low VOC level meets the state of California and The Ozone Transport Commission VOC emission regulation. The nearly odorless finish has a light pleasant fragrance. AquaSport Wood Floor Sealer is non-flammable.

FAST - DRYING/CLEAN UP:
AquaSport Wood Floor Sanding Seal is applied directly from the container. It provides excellent flow and leveling, and dries in approximately two to three hours when temperature is between 70 – 75F and relative humidity is 50% or less. AquaSport Wood Floor Sanding Seal cleans up easily with water, or with AquaSport Wood Floor Cleaner.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
Be sure the floor is properly prepared.
Do not coat with conventional floor finish.
“De-fuzz” all lamb’s wool applicators before using.
Ensure a dust free environment.
Follow recommended grit # for screening.
Always use screens; do not use stripping pads.
Be sure to adequately and properly tack until no residue is left on the floor. Be certain the floor is thoroughly clean. Do not reuse towels or tack rags.
Do not use oil treated dust mops for sweeping and tacking.
Do not use soap-based detergents.
Do not use old material.
Do not create puddles or heavy lap ridgelines. Should they occur, work out immediately.
Maintain a "wet" edge during the finish application.
Apply at recommended square foot coverage.
Allow floor to thoroughly dry before coating.
Do not close up the area where the floor is being coated.
Do not use fans directly on drying finish.
Do not use tape as court lines.
Dry times vary depending on temperature and humidity at the time of application.
Do not apply when temperatures are below 65°F or above 90°F. Do not apply when relative humidity is 80% or greater.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Some individuals may be sensitive to ingredients in this product. Before using, read product label and MSD sheet. Wet floors may be slippery. Prevent pedestrian traffic with signs or barricades.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
Use product as supplied.
Do not thin product.
Apply with a clean, designated waterborne applicator.
Always provide adequate ventilation during any coating process.
Never apply over waxes and or polishes.

Application Equipment:
Easy application is achieved with Padco's "Big Foot Floor Coater" (heavy or light weighted T-Bars), an on-board tank release type applicator such as an E-Z Way or a lamb's wool type applicator. Apply finish in parallel lines, with the direction of the boards. Always apply
thin coats. Work out puddles and ridgelines.

Floor Preparation:
All newly installed wood floors must be allowed to dry out for at least six weeks before finishing.

The new floor must then be sanded prior to sealing and finishing. Sanding requires professional technicians and/or
experienced maintenance personnel in order to achieve optimum results. One improper sanding will ruin a floor. All sanding should be done with a drum sander, which should be kept moving at all times. (Cuts that are too deep, down to the tongue and groove, will result in splintering, reducing and possibly eliminating the floor's structural strength.) Follow industry standards, such as NOFMA or MFMA, when sanding.

Be sure to thoroughly vacuum all sanding dust. Clean with WoodForce A-tack and allow adequate dry time before proceeding to AquaSport Wood Floor Sanding Seal application.

Application:
For best results, a four-coat system is recommended for freshly sanded floors. This includes one coat of AquaSport Wood Floor Sanding Seal, followed by three coats of AquaSport Wood Floor Finish or AquaSport 2-Part Wood Floor Finish. If any coat is allowed to cure for more than 24 hours, screening is required using a #120 grit screen before additional coats can be applied.
Tacking is required after any screening. Always allow tacked floor to dry completely before applying wood floor finish.

Apply AquaSport Wood Floor Sanding Seal with the grain as evenly as possible with the desired applicator, at the recommended coverage (400 – 800 sq. ft./gal.). Do not allow ridgelines, lap-lines or puddles to develop should they occur, work out immediately. Allow finish to completely dry (approximately 3 hours depending on temperature and humidity) before top coating with AquaSport Wood Floor Finish.
After AquaSport Wood Floor Sanding Seal has dried, inspect floor for grain raise. (Grain raise will most likely occur, to some degree, on all floors.) If grain raise exists, screen floor with a 120 or 150-grit screen until it is removed. Vacuum and tack until clean with AquaSport Wood Floor Cleaner (follow instructions for tacking on Informative Bulletin or product label). Do not over wet the floor. Allow floor plenty of time to dry before applying wood floor finish.
For best results, apply wood floor finish within a 24-hour window of AquaSport Wood Floor Sanding Seal "tacking up" enough to withstand foot traffic (without leaving footprints or marks). It is not necessary to screen between coats unless grain raise exists or more than 24 hours has passed since the last coat of finish was applied*. Should the 24-hour window of re-coating opportunity pass, screen floor with a 120-grit screen, vacuum and tack with AquaSport Wood Floor Cleaner.
See full finish application instructions in AquaSport Wood Floor Finish or AquaSport 2-Part Wood Floor Finish Informative Bulletins.
