PROCEDURE FOR STRIPPING SLATE


Tools & Materials Needed:
1. Slate stripper
2. Machine and brush
3. Wet/dry vacuum
4. A hand scrub brush
5. Gym mops
6. Two mop buckets and wringers
7. Rags
8. Gloves and personal protective equipment.
9. Wet Floor signs


Procedures:

Slate floors are hard to clean or strip. Slate has a natural groove to the surface. As you mop, all liquids settle in the grooves.
PROCEDURE:
Put on personal protective equipment.
1. Mix stripper in hot water and follow manufacturer's recommendations.
2. Section floor in l0' x l0' area to be stripped.
4. Scrub floor with a machine equipped with a brush.
5. Pick up scrub solution with wet/dry vacuum.
6. Apply one clear water rinse to the area you have just cleaned.
7. Wipe baseboards with a damp rag.
8. Repeat procedure until entire area is stripped.
9. Rinse entire area two more times.
10. Apply first coat of sealer.
