In order to promote worker safety, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) developed the Blood borne Pathogen Standard (Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations at 29 CFR 1910.1030) which provides important protection for workers who can reasonably be anticipated to come into contact with blood or OPIM (other potentially infectious materials) as a result of doing their job duties.
