January 23, 2018

Spartan Chemical Company, Inc., a recognized leader in the formulation and manufacture of sustainable cleaning and sanitation solutions for the industrial and institutional market, announced today that GS Restroom Cleaner is the only remaining Industrial & Institutional product certified under the Design for the Environment (DfE) Antimicrobial Pesticide Pilot Project.

In 2011 the EPA established an antimicrobial pilot program to help consumers find products that are more toward the green end of the pesticide spectrum. GS Restroom Cleaner from Spartan Chemical was the first product certified in this program. Seven years later, GS Restroom Cleaner is the only remaining industrial and institutional product meeting certification requirements for this program.

Based on this accreditation, GS Restroom Cleaner, an EPA registered hospital grade disinfectant is determined to provide effective cleaning in any public facility that requires a green certified program, such as LEED.

“Spartan has been a true pioneer in the sustainable cleaning movement,” said John Swigart, president, Spartan Chemical Company. “Our chemists formulate all of our products using the best practices for sustainability. We are proud to participate in this program and proud to offer the only remaining product left in this category.”

GS Restroom Cleaner is a citric acid based formulation designed to clean, disinfect and deodorize toilet bowls, urinals, and other hard, nonporous bathroom surfaces. GS Restroom Cleaner is recommended for use in hotels and motels, hospitals, office buildings, schools, public buildings, restaurants...any commercial, institutional or industrial building with lavatory facilities. GS Restroom Cleaner kills Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella enterica, Influenza A Virus, and Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2.

The DfE Antimicrobial Pesticide Pilot Project allows qualifying antimicrobial products to carry a logo on their pesticide labels that indicates the product meets certain criteria. The pilot project runs through May 3, 2018. The pilot requires that products and inert ingredients be reviewed against the Safer Choice standard.
